Choosing Sterling Silver
Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver and a mixture of other metal. The remaining 7.5% of the alloy is usually copper, and some other metals like zinc which adds strength while still preserving the flexibility and appearance of the pure silver.
Pure silver is a precious metal and is too soft to use for most . Mixing pure silver with some other metal(s) to gives it more strength. The resulting alloy is sterling silver. Sterling is harder than pure silver (“Ag” on the table of elements) and more durable for jewelry.
